Exercise and pregnancy may not seem to go hand in hand. However if you keep up some level of exercise throughout your pregnancy, it can ensure you keep in a healthy weight range and allow your recovery to go much smoother after the baby is born.
1. Swimming: This is a great exercise for you no matter what the time, but can be tremendously beneficial during pregnancy. This is easy on the joints, allows you to feel weightless and happens to be a great way to get in your exercise quota as well. Most doctors will recommend swimming as part of a healthy exercise regimen and it is safe for nearly every pregnant woman. So consider lowering yourself into the pool and enjoying that weightless feeling as you exercise your body in the safest way possible.
2. Walking: If you were a runner before then it’s fine, though you may very well not feel up to it during pregnancy. Walking however is safe for nearly every pregnant and it’s easy to do anywhere. It can get the joints in motion, keep you fit and allow you to keep to a healthy weight throughout your pregnancy. You can get some great maternity walking videos or you can just get outside or head to the closest mall to walk until your heart is content.
3. Yoga: This is a type of exercise that is always good for you, both physically and mentally. There’s a reason that you keep seeing more and more maternity yoga classes popping up and it’s because this is a great and preferred exercise amongst pregnant women. This allows a pregnant woman to feel centered, and gain strength both mentally and physically. Maternity yoga is easier on the body and the joints because it’s not as strenuous, but you still get an amazing workout from it all.
4. Dancing: Who doesn’t love to dance? This is a type of exercise that doesn’t even feel like exercise and therefore it happens to be a great one to try out when you are pregnant. You can do this in the comfort of your own home, find a class, get a video, or look for a maternity type of dance that you can do safely wherever you are. There are so many different styles and types of dance that you can surely find one that fits your needs and lifestyle. So if you want to keep in shape and have some fun while you are pregnant, dancing is a great thing to indulge in.
5. Weight Training: So long as you have no limitations on the type of exercise you can do, weight training is a great way to keep certain parts of your body toned. Obviously you have to be careful about any exercises that involve your abdomen or putting too much strain on the area, but there are still plenty of things you can do. Weight training that particularly focuses on the arms can be a great way to keep in shape, get toned, and enjoy some exercise throughout your pregnancy.
Though you may not realize it, there are some exercises that can be safe and rather enjoyable throughout your pregnancy. These are highly recommended and even preferred amongst pregnancy everywhere.
